Meet Attorney Judith C. Knight

Hailing from Berkshire County, Judith C. Knight spent 5 years as an Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County, neighboring Boston. Her time in active Middlesex County provided her with perspective on not only how a well-run attorney’s office should operate, but also the scope of a prosecutor’s case load.

Ms. Knight then served at two firms in Boston before returning to the Berkshires in 1998. In addition to trying cases as a prosecutor, she has worked as a defense attorney. She brought that unique perspective to the Western New England School of Law in Springfield where she taught as an adjunct professor. Her lessons focused on the successful preparation and trying of criminal and civil cases.

Both criminal and civil cases were handled during her time at two prominent area law firms. Meanwhile, she remains active in the community. Ms. Knight’s family has deep roots in Berkshire County. Her father, the late Dr. Robert P. Knight, was the Director of the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge until his death in 1966. Judith serves on the Board of the Berkshire Theater and Projectile Arts. In 2004, she volunteered as a legal consultant in southern Florida to make sure no registered voters were denied their right to vote.

Adele Knight Boyd of Stockbridge brought Judith up in Stockbridge, where she graduated from their public school system. She earned her undergraduate degree at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her Juris Doctor was obtained at Washington and Lee University Law School in Virginia.
